VW endears itself to Star Wars fans with the 'Baby Vader' ad campaign for the new Passat

May the Fourth be with you. The unofficial day of celebration for Star Wars fans the world-over, has been rather niftily hi-jacked by VW’s latest ad campaign for the new Passat. VW is no stranger to pithy and memorable ads, remember the Golf GTi ‘Casino’ effort back in the 80s?

Volkswagen’s Communications Manager, Danny Hill commented: ‘It’s a charming ad with great music and has the universal appeal of Star Wars. It captures the imagination and ties in well with our message about the Passat’s clever technology.”

Using a remote key to turn on the headlights isn’t exactly a new phenomenon, so what it says about clever new technology, I’m not sure. Still, it’s an amusing enough ad that skilfully lends a bit of personality to the Passat brand.
